There is something spooky about a washing-machine.
It eats up some socks, and scrubs the rest of ‘em clean
“Why,” asked the boy, as he dragged his bare footy,
“Can’t it eat my undies? Don’t care ‘bout a bare booty.”

Next four words: Baby, sleep, not, night

Chatty, I did enter all three in contests, way back
when they were first written over five years ago. And the sites that had contests, gushed over them and gave awards, etc. But it was a con game: they'd publish them if I bought their goods. Back then, each publication cost $25.00. The plan is to include the baby poem in my second manuscript. I'll be sending the work I'm doing now your way in a few months. I like your editing skills.

I never played an instrument and cannot read music. I'm thinking perhaps that's why I don't get the rhythmic notion that you and EW mentioned, down properly.

My writing has a tendency toward the abstract and I'm working at making it more traditional. Some people like abstract paintings; but, it has been my experience that few folks enjoy abstract writing.

Now I'll see what I can leave behind on gims' poetic game idea.

It's fun to watch a baby at play,
See carefree smiles, his crawl and sway.
The baby plays and frolics with zest,
Enjoys solid sleep that's the very best.
Baby worries none and stresses not,
Depends on big folks for everything he's got.
Baby tries to hug all that's in sight.
His life is love and it seems so right,
No wonder baby rests all through the night.

Sorry, just couldn't resist! I used to write poetry in high school; had some pretty good ones. I'll have to figure out where those are and post a few.

As the leaves changed in fall,
I received a phone call.
These surveys have become such a nuisance!

"And how will you vote?
We want a quick quote."
Said the surveyor girl with a vengeance!

"Will you vote left or right?"
Asked the caller tonight.
And I told her Left WILL make a difference!

Ok...here goes

I was a beer drinker til age 24
When I dated a guy who was much younger
He drove me to drink Tequila and Coke
and didn't fulfill all my hunger

I changed to a man who was older than me
Age shouldn't matter... I'm frisky
That was when I turned 53
He drove me to Bourbon and Whiskey

I tried once again to find me a man
who didn't entice me to drink
The one that I found was an X whino hound
So I decided I'd date him...my shrink

That didn't last and my life flew by fast
T'was time to give it a rest
I now live alone and I own my own home
With a wine cellar empty at best

I'm now at an age where sobers the rage
Alas I can't help where I've been
I've given up drink which allows me to think....

One day I went walking with Nick,
In a briar patch we struggled, so THICK.

He said its like being in Tailand,
I said nope, it feels more like an ISLAND.

To the mailbox I rushed, but felt like a dope,
I missed the mailman, while dropping my ENVELOPE.

Nick laughed and said its a non-issue,
As I wiped away my tear with a TISSUE.
