Winter approaches On nippy nights And feathers my windows with icy delight. Fluffy snow Embroiders the pines And caresses the fields Like mulberry wine...
hope, fire, window, hearth

fluffy, pine, field, wine
She'd pine and she'd pine 'Til dawn found its way Her mind so excited As she gets a new day
To the mirror she'd go To see the night's ruins Hoping to find less Of its ugly doin's
Fluffy and ratted Her hair, what a mess But that takes little To make it its best
Her face is the worst A field of new lines She hadn't seen yet But sees sure this time
Wrinkle to wrinkle She traces each line Thoughts take her soon To her first glass of wine
"I just look so old" She thinks once ag'in Not knowing her worry Is what's doing her in
chase, gold, fever, find

Eagle Heart, your poem was like a beautiful painting.
hope, fire, window, hearth
I was a fair young girl, around twenty five, Full of hopes and fantasies; fresh and alive. I was running in the cold night, to catch a bus. Too busy to stop, always in a rush.
Through a window, shadows of a blazing fire made me stop; - what I saw, filled my heart with desire. There sat an old couple arm in arm by the hearth, Eating chocolates, and cuddling, they were full of mirth
That’s what I want, that’s what I lack, Need no villa or pink Cadillac. Want a man to hold me and love me forever, That’s gold, compared to any business endeavour.

once again, I was trying some words, while someone else (this time EH) was doing the same. EH, your poem is so much better and better fitting for the words involved.
I love your poem, too EW... talking about a verbal painting! So, what new words will you be picking for us?

Time has a way Of moving us on Beyond old perceptions Beyond days long gone.
Perpetually changing Horizons and dreams Surprise and unravel The way we perceive.
But as life unfolds us Through new twists and bends We’re carried and strengthened By tried-and-true friends.
You’ve watched and you’ve prayed You’ve laughed and you’ve cried Rejoiced at my blooming And never asked why.
My journey has taken Me many dark miles How could I survive Without your sweet smile.
